Script for Preliminary Task:


(Ella texts Sam “Can I talk to you its urgent”. Sam walks through the entrance towards the common room. Sam opens the door to the common room, approaches Ella.)



Sam: hey I got your text, what’s up? Is everything alright?

Ella: No, not really, I’m so annoyed right now

Sam: why?

(They both sit down at the table)

Ella: Because I got robbed yesterday by some idiots, that £50 I was meant to pay you back today, it got stolen!

(Sam’s jaw drops)

Ella: (high tone voice) I’m really sorry Sam! I’ll sort something out

Sam: No I needed the money today! Why are you so irresponsible?

Ella: what do you mean ‘irresponsible’? It wasn’t even my fault

Sam: yeah but how you gonna let them to take my money though?

Ella: why are angry at me? What was I meant to do? they threatened to hurt me

Sam: Yeah but now what am I going to do

Ella: I don’t know but surely you shouldn’t be blaming me, your being pathetic

Sam: Ella don’t test me, it was my money

Ella: I don’t care Sam, I’m not taking your crap, and you don’t speak to me like that

Sam: (raises her voice) what’s wrong with you? I should be the one who’s mad!

Ella: No Sam, you were being rude to me. I literally have no energy for this

(Ella stands up and removes her bags from the table)

Sam: Really? Are you really gonna be like that?

Ella: Yeah and I won’t even bother getting the £50 I still owe you. You disrespected me.

Sam: (laughs) No you’re not! You’re paying me back! Stop being petty and grow up who do you think you are!

Ella: Whatever Sam. I can’t be bothered for this, I’m going to my lesson

(Ella walks towards the common room door and leaves the room)

How does your media product represent particular social groups? Many horror movies have a rating of either 15 or 18, due to the graphic content such as blood, gore, sexual themes etc. Our target audience is teens but does not include any references to blood, gore or sexual themes. One way our media product represents social groups is through mise-en-scene. The actors are usually on their mobile phones where it is teens stereotypically for teens to be quite anti-social and always texting or communicating on their smartphones. Also, the setting shows a young social group as in an alley you wouldn't tend to find adults unless they are walking through whereas teens use this type of place to get up to trouble and all sorts. The setting is important as it creates a narrative and creates enigma such as the audience wondering "Why are they there", "What are they doing there" and to think a bad event is about to happen. Media Language

Media language refers to the ways in which meaning is created in media texts. Below are some of the terms we have been learning about in our AS Media Studies lessons: Establishing Shot: Two-shot: Point of view shot: Over the shoulder shot: High-angle shot: Low-angle shot: Canted-angle: Pan: Camera Establishing shot : The opening shot in a dramatic scene that establishes the disposition of people and objects in the mise-en-scène.
